The affected units are batteries shipped from January 2025 through July 2026. Because the possibility of smoke emission was identified in 4 models of 13.2 kWh tri-hybrid energy storage systems, operation will be suspended and the units replaced free of charge. The shutdown will be carried out through on-site visits, and replacement is scheduled for a later date.
ニチコン announced that, due to a problem in the battery manufacturing process, it will suspend operation and carry out free replacements for its 13.2 kWh tri-hybrid energy storage systems shipped from January 2025 through July 2026.
The affected models are ESS-T5FS, ESS-T5FSVPL, ESS-T6FS and ESS-T6FSVPL, each of which is equipped with an ES-BFFS battery unit.
The company will contact purchasers directly, arrange visit schedules, suspend operation of the batteries, and later deliver replacement batteries free of charge and carry out the replacement work. The process may take several months from shutdown to replacement.
A dedicated contact center will be established, and the company will publish replacement procedures and inspection methods as it proceeds with measures to ensure safety.
