JX金属 announced plans to install new recycling equipment at its facilities in Tatebayashi, Gunma Prefecture, and Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture, to expand the collection and recycling of sputtering targets for semiconductors.
JX金属 will increase its capacity to recycle recovered materials by installing new recycling equipment for sputtering targets used in semiconductors. The equipment will be installed at the Tatebayashi facility in Tatebayashi, Gunma Prefecture, and the Nasu facility in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture, expanding the company's processing system for collected used targets.
The group supplies sputtering targets made from copper, tantalum, titanium, tungsten and cobalt, among other materials, and is developing a vertically integrated supply chain that covers everything from stable raw-material procurement through manufacturing.
The new equipment will cut and clean used targets for recycling, expanding the types and volumes of materials processed to promote the effective use of resources and reduce environmental impact.
