Mitsubishi Logistics, jointly with 南国殖産, was selected as the preferred project operator for the Kagoshima Port Main Port Area Community Development: Utilization of the North Pier Area and Other Areas Project solicited by Kagoshima Prefecture. The project area includes approximately 11 ha in the North Pier Area and approximately 3 ha around the Sakurajima Ferry Terminal, within the North Pier Area of Kagoshima Port’s Main Port Area.
A conceptual rendering of the completed development has been released, although changes may be made during future discussions and the design process. Construction is expected to begin in fiscal 2027, with opening planned for fiscal 2028.
Kagoshima Prefecture is the soliciting entity, and the project is expected to run for approximately 30 years. Development will be considered mainly for the approximately 11-ha North Pier Area. The parties will continue discussions with Kagoshima Prefecture, port-related parties, ferry and cruise ship users, and other diverse stakeholders while examining the project details and feasibility.
