Sakata Seed Corporation has launched Flowers and Vegetables Premium Blend Potting Soil. Designed to be easy for beginners to use, it is formulated to support both long-lasting fertilizer performance and the development of taproots and fine roots, and is available exclusively through online sales for home gardening.
Against a backdrop of continuing severe weather, including extreme heat and torrential rain, the company launched full-scale sales in response to demand for potting soil that allows beginner and intermediate gardeners to grow plants successfully. Flowers and Vegetables Premium Blend Potting Soil uses a proprietary blend of peat moss and Kanuma soil designed to promote the development of an aggregate structure, with the aim of supporting the growth of taproots and fine roots.
A distinctive feature is the use of humic acid, which improves nutrient retention, adsorbed onto zeolite and released gradually. This sustains the fertilizer effect for up to 2 months and helps mitigate the impact of forgetting to apply additional fertilizer. The product comes in a 24-liter bag and is priced at ¥1,980 including tax.
Full-scale sales are limited to the company’s mail-order business, centered on its online shop. Orders will begin in mid-November, with shipments made on a rolling basis. The product has been renamed and relaunched from Flowers and Vegetables Potting Soil W-SOIL-305, which was launched in spring 2026.
The product uses a simple design so that it can be placed anywhere, including on a balcony or in a garden. Going forward, online ordering and shipping are expected to remain the focus.
