Major pachinko maker SANKYO plans to install solar power generation equipment at its Sanwa Plant in Isesaki, Gunma Prefecture, raising its renewable energy share to approximately 30.9%. The company will use a subsidy for installations outside Tokyo to convert the generated power into green power certificates and begin a 20-year power purchase agreement.
Pachinko machine manufacturer SANKYO installed solar power generation equipment at its Sanwa Plant through an on-site PPA with Daigas Energy and began operations in October 2026.
Approximately 30.9% of the Sanwa Plant’s electricity consumption is expected to be supplied by renewable energy, reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 179t annually. The environmental value associated with the power generation will be certified as green power certificates and used at SANKYO’s sites in Tokyo.
The rooftop installation comprises 495kW of solar panels and a 400kW power conditioner. The generated power will be sold over the 20-year contract term. Daigas Energy will purchase surplus electricity that cannot be consumed on-site and transmit it to the transmission and distribution grid.
The initiative is eligible for a subsidy from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government for installations outside Tokyo and combines the certification of environmental value with its use outside Tokyo.
