GMO Cyber Security by Ierae announced that unauthorized access using the AI tool ARTEX targeting Japanese companies had been identified, with attack infrastructure observed mainly targeting Japanese companies. It was also reported that Grok Bot can now be launched using the iPhone Action button and that Cognizant is establishing a new organization specializing in Gemini.
As AI-related developments rapidly evolve in Japan and overseas, GMO Cyber Security by Ierae announced on 19 October that ARTEX, an autonomous AI penetration-testing system, had been used as the source of unauthorized access targeting Japanese companies. ARTEX is reportedly developed in China, and the attack infrastructure was confirmed to be targeting Japan primarily.
The investigation found that approximately 20 companies had been targeted within the observed scope. Since many were in the same industry, the attacks may have been part of a campaign narrowed by country and industry. Six additional AI-enabled attack infrastructure systems targeting Japanese companies were also discovered, and many of the target companies had announced information leaks.
SpaceXAI, which provides Grok Bot, announced an update enabling Grok Bot to be launched from the Action button positioned at the upper left of the iPhone. From the iPhone 15 Pro onward, users can assign Grok Bot controls in the settings.
Cognizant expanded its partnership with Google Cloud and established the new Gemini Frontier Capability Group, an organization specializing in Gemini. It plans to assign more than 18,000 dedicated staff and strengthen support for AI adoption.
