Produce a limited 10,000 bottles of beer using an AI-generated recipe to commemorate HUST's 70th anniversary. The recipe was generated from a survey of 286 students, and the beer was produced and bottled through a local manufacturing partner.
HUST, Fujitsu, Headwaters and Data Impact are pursuing an AI Beer Project, using causal AI to create 2 pilot brewing recipes based on survey results from 286 students. Pilot brewing at laboratory scale and sensory evaluations by 68 people were also conducted, with evaluations continuing through July 2026.
The beer was ultimately filled and bottled through a local beer manufacturing partner, with a limited 10,000 bottles produced. They were distributed to relevant parties to commemorate HUST's 70th anniversary.
The project also led to a joint presentation at the international conference SPISE 2026 and is expected to continue as a demonstration of AI-enabled food and beverage development.
