A delegation from the Japan Association for Promotion of International Trade, chaired by former Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi (岩屋毅), departed Haneda Airport on the 27th for Beijing, China.
The delegation is seeking a meeting with the leadership under Xi Jinping, and about 50 Japanese corporate executives participated.
The visit was originally planned for last June but was postponed following the death of former House of Representatives Speaker Kono Yohei (河野洋平). The schedule was subsequently readjusted for mid-to-late September.
The association serves as a channel for trade and economic exchange with China, and Iwaya became its new chair in July.
