Wacoal Holdings and ISSEY MIYAKE are jointly creating the new COCOON BODY project using Melooop. It is scheduled to be presented at the Spring/Summer 2027 Paris Fashion Week.
Wacoal, a subsidiary of Wacoal Holdings, and ISSEY MIYAKE are jointly creating the new COCOON BODY project using Melooop, a three-dimensional forming technology developed by the Wacoal Human Science Research and Development Center.
Against the backdrop of both companies’ pursuit of creative work based on the human body and fabric, the project aims to develop new sculptural expressions beyond conventional sewing and cutting. COCOON BODY is positioned as an experiment in creating clothing from the body as its starting point.
The project’s outputs pursue new sculptural expressions combining digital technology and three-dimensional forming, extending Melooop, previously used to form bra pads, to the production process for entire garments.
According to the official announcement, COCOON BODY is scheduled to be presented at the Spring/Summer 2027 Paris Fashion Week. Based on their shared value of making a deep understanding of the human body the starting point for manufacturing, the two companies will present new approaches to clothing that combine their existing technologies and expertise.
