HKS is developing a wide range of new parts for the FL5 Civic Type R, covering aerodynamics, intake and exhaust, cooling and suspension. The rear wing scheduled for release in autumn is expected to cost approximately ¥420,000.
To enhance the potential of the FL5 as a globally acclaimed front-wheel-drive sports car, HKS is developing a broad range of parts, from powertrain components and cooling systems to suspension and aerodynamics. The current FL5 is already highly refined, and HKS is expanding its lineup to take it to a higher level.
The “HKS BODY KIT TYPE-S” is the centerpiece of the exterior lineup. It combines a front bumper spoiler, side skirts and rear under spoiler, and is also available with a ducktail and fender moldings. A new rear wing has been introduced as the culmination of the TYPE-S range. Made of dry carbon, it features a six-stage angle-adjustment mechanism. It is scheduled for release around autumn and is expected to cost approximately ¥420,000.
Power-oriented tuning products such as the “Legalmax Sports” and “Power Editor” series, as well as the Mastery ECU, have already been released. Development is also under way on a cold-air intake as a new intake and exhaust component, with installation on the demo car currently at the 3D-printed prototype stage. In the exhaust system, testing combining a new front pipe and metal catalytic converter confirmed performance exceeding the stock setup across the full rev range. An increase of 12 ps in maximum output and 2.1 kgm in maximum torque has been reported.
The FL550R is being used as a test vehicle, and its record of 57.999 seconds at Tsukuba Circuit was also highlighted. HKS is considering introducing a new turbocharger this season and plans to expand its lineup by feeding back data from the Racing Performer FL550R. This is expected to further advance the FL5 beyond its stock configuration.
