HKS has launched the new Wing Rear for the Civic TYPE R (FL5). It is designed to increase downforce using lightweight dry carbon and a swan-neck configuration.
HKS announced that it will launch the Wing Rear on 15 September as a new item in the HKS BODY KIT TYPE-S aero-parts range exclusively for the Civic TYPE R (FL5). The price is ¥432,350.
The Wing Rear uses lightweight, high-rigidity dry carbon, with the endplates and main wing molded as one piece to combine functionality and appearance. The wing adopts a swan-neck structure, with the supports positioned above the wing to avoid disrupting airflow beneath the main wing and increase downforce.
The angle of attack can be adjusted through six stages to suit conditions, providing stable rear grip across a range of speeds. CFD analysis and 3D CAD design were used to select the optimum shape, improving stability at high speeds while smoothing airflow from the top of the vehicle toward the rear and helping to reduce drag.
Final on-road testing was conducted at Fuji Speedway. Repeated tests at speeds exceeding 220 km/h verified the aerodynamic balance between the front and rear of the vehicle, as well as mounting strength.
