On 1 October 2026, プラップジャパン's board of directors resolved to enter into a capital and business alliance with Edelman. In connection with the acquisition, Cavendish Square Holding BV, the company's former largest shareholder and a subsidiary of the WPP Group, will transfer its 935,800 shares to Edelman in an off-market transaction, resulting in a 21.03% voting rights ratio after the acquisition. The acquisition price is ¥1,358.64 per share, approximately ¥1.27141 billion in total, giving Edelman the status of a major shareholder and the largest shareholder of プラップジャパン.
The alliance is intended to strengthen the companies' ability to handle global projects and promote expansion across Asia as the corporate communications environment changes with the advancement of digitalisation and globalisation. Edelman is an independent PR firm with more than 60 offices worldwide and extensive experience building trusted relationships between brands and their stakeholders.
Under the alliance, プラップジャパン, which is expanding from its base in Japan into China and Southeast Asia, and Edelman, which has a global track record, will share knowledge and seek to create new value by leveraging their strengths in digital services, marketing and AI. The companies aim to expand their customer bases and enhance the value of their offerings by strengthening communications support for Japanese companies in overseas markets, expanding opportunities to provide services in the Japanese market to Edelman's global clients, and creating opportunities for collaboration across Asia.
As for the outlook, プラップジャパン expects the impact on consolidated results to be minor, while stating that the alliance will contribute to improving corporate value over the medium to long term. Edelman intends to continue holding the shares for the long term as a stable shareholder and has stated that the alliance will have no impact on the management structure or business performance.
