PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio, will be opened as a site for NVIDIA, SB Energy and OpenAI, with LPS capacity secured. The site is scheduled to expand from an initial 4.25 IT-GW to 8 IT-GW ultimately, promoting job creation and investment in the power grid.
On 19 August 2026, NVIDIA announced that, through its partnership with SB Energy, it had secured land, power and building capacity dedicated to AI computing at the PORTS-Pike Technology Campus in Pike County, Ohio. OpenAI will be the customer for the site, while SB Energy will build, own and operate the data center under a 20-year lease agreement with OpenAI.
In the initial phase, NVIDIA will provide credit support to secure 4.25 IT-GW of AI factory capacity and will retain an option to acquire the remaining 3.75 IT-GW. OpenAI is ultimately expected to use a total of 8 IT-GW at the site and deploy NVIDIA's DSX AI factory platform to create a highly resilient architecture. Founder Jensen Huang (ジェンスン・フアン) and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman (サム・アルトマン) each commented that AI will become the intelligence foundation of industry.
Regional job creation and fiscal support will proceed in parallel. The PORTS-Pike campus is part of a former industrial site redevelopment project, and NVIDIA will invest $1.5 billion in SB Energy. SB Energy and SoftBank will develop new power generation facilities and invest in the power grid, while OpenAI will contribute an additional $40 million to a community support fund following its initial $40 million contribution. The project is expected to create tens of thousands of jobs in Ohio and generate approximately $4.2 billion in investment in the power grid.
The partnership represents an example of how competition to secure the physical infrastructure needed to meet growing AI demand is accelerating through coordination among NVIDIA, OpenAI and SoftBank.
