Apple announced five new products, including a touch-enabled MacBook Pro. The current highlights include an OLED-equipped iPad mini, an iMac and MacBook Pro with M6 chips, and a MacBook Pro with a touchscreen.
First, the iPad mini features the first OLED display in the series. Its pixel structure does not require a backlight, improving black levels and contrast. Along with a thinner and lighter design, it is equipped with an A20 Pro chip, and the 128GB model starts at ¥119,800.
The iMac now features an M6 chip. Processing performance is said to be up to 5 times that of the M4 and up to 12 times that of the M1, and it also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Changes from the previous model are limited, however, and pricing starts at ¥249,800.
The 14-inch MacBook Pro is also equipped with an M6, with AI processing performance said to be up to 13 times that of the M1. It has a 120Hz mini-LED display, while connectivity, including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI and SDXC, remains unchanged from the previous specifications. Pricing starts at ¥339,800 but rises substantially depending on the specifications.
The highlight this time is the MacBook Pro with a touchscreen, available in 14-inch and 16-inch models. Features include the OLED “PROLED XDR” display, Dynamic Island instead of the notch at the top of the screen, and a lineup of M5 Pro/Max models focused on AI performance. Prices are high, and the lineup is centered on configurations suited to AI processing.
