On 2 August, Parts Day, also known as Happy Parts Day, the MORITO Group carried out a community co-creation project on Teshima, Kagawa, launching an initiative to help create the future through workshops focused on environmental conservation and the use of local resources.
The group’s ties to Teshima are rooted in its relationship with the late Nakabo Kohei (中坊 公平). In recognition of his efforts to resolve the illegal dumping of industrial waste on Teshima, the group has continued its engagement with the local community, including through support for the Setouchi Olive Foundation. This initiative was conducted to deepen that relationship.
On the day, participants removed weeds to promote the regeneration of trees on Teshima and attended a study session on local environmental issues, deepening their understanding of the conservation of the natural environment in the midsummer heat. In the afternoon, they discussed making products using underutilized resources, including olive-pressing residues, pruned branches and waste materials from Teshima.
A stand-up paddleboarding experience was also held to help participants experience the natural environment of the Seto Inland Sea and deepen their understanding of the group companies’ marine sports products. Going forward, the group aims to create new value through resource-circulating product development and initiatives that help resolve local issues.
