ハリマ化成 Group plans to withdraw from its rosin business in New Zealand, stop production on 30 June 2027 and close the plant in May 2028. It is expected to record approximately ¥2.8 billion as an extraordinary loss in the October–December 2026 quarter as a result.
The company formally stated its policy of withdrawing from the rosin business derived from pine resin at its New Zealand subsidiary and disclosed the schedule for suspending production and closing the plant. Production is scheduled to stop on 30 June 2027, and the plant is expected to close in May 2028.
The reasons for the withdrawal include intensifying price competition with Asia, rising manufacturing costs and instability in raw-material procurement, while performance had remained weak.
The company plans to continue producing and selling rosin outside New Zealand, limiting the withdrawal to its New Zealand operations.
It plans to record an extraordinary loss of approximately ¥2.8 billion in the October–December 2026 quarter as a one-time cost, including impairment losses on fixed assets.
