ハリマ化成グループ, a chemical manufacturer listed on the TSE Prime Market, announced that it will exit the business operated by its New Zealand subsidiary Rotorua New Zealand. Established in 2010, Rotorua New Zealand has primarily manufactured and sold tall fatty acids, tall rosin and turpene derivatives.
Production is scheduled to stop on 30 June 2027, and the plant is expected to close in May 2028. An extraordinary loss of approximately ¥2.8 billion is expected to be recorded in connection with the exit, reflecting impairment losses on property, plant and equipment and exit costs.
The deterioration in earnings is attributed to intensifying price competition in Asia, its main market, as well as higher manufacturing costs in New Zealand and unstable raw material procurement.
A PDF notice regarding the exit from the Rotorua New Zealand business has been published as an official announcement. Attention will remain focused on progress toward the plant closure.
