Daihatsu announced and began selling a partially improved model of the Mira e:S kei passenger car. Fuel economy has been improved through the adoption of a new engine and ECU, preventive safety functions have been enhanced, and an upgrade package for installing a Smart Drive Recorder is available across the entire lineup.
On 27 August 2026, Daihatsu announced a partially improved model of the Mira e:S and began sales the same day. The improvements include revisions to the engine and ECU to achieve a balance between driving performance and fuel economy.
The new WLTC fuel economy is 27 km/L for 2WD vehicles, up from 25 km/L, while 4WD vehicles improved by approximately 5%. Maximum output rose from 49 ps to 52 ps, and maximum torque from 57 Nm to 60 Nm, delivering a balance between fuel efficiency and acceleration performance.
In terms of safety, the “Smart Assist” preventive safety system has been updated, adding cyclist detection when crossing and oncoming-vehicle and crossing-pedestrian detection when turning right at intersections. The maximum speed for pedestrian detection has been raised from the previous 60 km/h to 80 km/h. Brake control has also been added to prevent unintended launches in forward and reverse. In addition, an upgrade package for installing a Smart Drive Recorder is now available on all vehicles, reducing the need to purchase a separate drive recorder.
Two earth-tone body colors have been introduced, and X“Limited” has been added as a new grade based on the X. The lineup comprises 3 grades, all available with 2WD and 4WD. Prices range from ¥1,096,700 for the L (2WD) to ¥1,507,000 for the X“Limited” (4WD). The previous B“SA III” and G“SA III” have been removed from the catalog.
