Honda R&D exhibited at ITS World Congress 2026 in Gangneung. The company presented its latest research in both safety and environmental technologies, including next-generation ADAS and dynamic wireless power transfer.
ITS World Congress 2026 was held in Gangneung, South Korea, under the theme "Beyond Mobility, Connected World," with Honda R&D presenting some of its latest research at its booth. The event serves as a forum for sharing technology and policy developments across a broad range of fields, including automated driving, traffic safety and infrastructure management.
In its safety initiatives, next-generation ADAS uses AI to handle everything from environmental perception to vehicle control, providing driver assistance centred on route guidance. The company also presented CI driver assistance, which uses rear-view camera and vehicle-image data to predict risks and estimate the driver's cognitive state in an effort to prevent accidents before they occur. The technology assesses risks in a digital space involving all road users, including pedestrians and vehicles.
Safety and Secure Network technology was presented as combining integrated decision-making to avoid potential risks approximately 10 seconds in advance with feedback from interactive AI. Video of a large-scale demonstration in Tsukuba under Phase 3 of the Cabinet Office's SIP was also shown. Multi-agent simulation technology reproduces driving behaviour from countries around the world in a virtual space, enabling verification of scenarios that are difficult to test with actual vehicles.
In the environmental field, emphasis was placed on development of the new electric naked bike model Honda WN7 and initiatives involving dynamic wireless power transfer technology. The presentation demonstrated an aim to expand the use of renewable energy while achieving carbon neutrality.
