The New Economy Association published a report on the “Energy Efficiency 5.0” session at JX Live 2026. Drawing on remarks by S-Pool’s Yatsubayashi Kohei (八林公平), the report introduced an approach aimed at optimising energy use at the city level through AI.
Yatsubayashi Kohei (八林公平) of S-Pool Blue Dot Green, a subsidiary of S-Pool, spoke at the “Energy Efficiency 5.0” session at JX Live 2026. The New Economy Association published a report on the session, introducing discussions on optimising energy use at the city level through energy data integration and the use of AI, beyond the optimisation of individual facilities.
The core concepts of Energy Efficiency 5.0 included the need for mechanisms that use AI control and digital twins with existing facilities, as well as mechanisms to evaluate and certify actual operating performance, rather than performance only at the design stage. This indicated a direction for addressing the gap between ownership and use, in which building owners bear the cost of equipment investment while tenants receive the benefits of lower utility costs.
The discussion also touched on implementation challenges as the scope of data integration expands, identifying practical hurdles such as standardising evaluation criteria, determining how costs should be allocated, and ensuring interoperability between facilities. Developing mechanisms to close the gap between AI-based forecasts and actual performance was identified as a focus going forward.
These points were also reflected in the JX Declaration 2026 published by the New Economy Association on 18 August, and readers may watch developments in the adoption of energy-saving technologies and certification schemes.
