Chubu Electric Power announced efforts to accelerate digital transformation using AI and cloud computing. It will drive 4 themes, including the use of AI and robotics at construction sites and the optimization of agrivoltaic solar power generation, while working with Microsoft to advance demonstration projects and deployment.
Chubu Electric Power announced that it will pursue digital transformation to enhance its power business and transform its operations. To address social challenges such as changing environmental conditions and labor shortages, it has established 4 key themes centered on the use of AI and cloud computing.
The first theme is the use of AI and robotics at construction sites. The company will automate work and reduce labor requirements using robots mounted on aerial work platforms, with the aim of improving safety and productivity at sites. With technical support from Microsoft Japan, it will build AI image-recognition capabilities on Azure.
The second theme is the optimization of agrivoltaic solar power generation. AI will be used to select suitable sites and simulate power generation and crop yields, supporting the expansion of renewable energy deployment. The third is the enhancement of energy-related solutions, supporting customers in optimizing their energy use. The fourth is the company-wide rollout of AI agents, using Copilot to automate administrative tasks.
With the cooperation of Microsoft Japan, this initiative aims to improve the safety and productivity of energy infrastructure while building a next-generation energy infrastructure model.
