Hitachi Energy will build a new transformer plant in Mississippi, US, doubling its production capacity. The investment will total approximately ¥81.8 billion, and the project is expected to create more than 700 jobs.
Hitachi Energy announced that it will establish a new transformer manufacturing plant in Galman, Mississippi, to meet growing electricity demand in the US market. The investment will total $528 million (approximately ¥81.8 billion), making it the largest project in the company’s history.
The new plant will be built approximately 10 kilometers from the company’s existing plant in Crystal Springs, with plans to increase transformer production capacity to more than double its current level once completed. More than 700 jobs are expected to be created after the plant begins operations.
Against a backdrop of rapidly rising electricity demand driven by the expansion of data centers and other factors, the project aims to strengthen Hitachi Energy’s US manufacturing base and capture growing demand for power-grid infrastructure.
