A consortium of 3 Japanese-affiliated companies led by 日水コン was awarded the preparatory survey for Phase 2 of the Hue water environment improvement project. The contract was signed in October 2026, and work commenced. The project has a one-year implementation period through October 2027.
A JV comprising 日本水工設計 and クリアウォーターOSAKA, with 日水コン as the lead firm, was awarded by JICA the preparatory survey for Phase 2 of the Hue water environment improvement project. The contract was signed and work commenced. The project area is Hue, located in the Huong River basin in Vietnam's north-central region. Phase 2 aims to expand wastewater treatment facilities and mitigate flood damage.
The implementation period is one year, from October 2026 to October 2027. The Phase 2 plan includes construction of a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 30,000 m3/day, installation of approximately 117 km of sewerage and drainage pipelines, construction of 11 pump stations, and bank protection works. The project aims to improve wastewater treatment capacity in the target area.
The preparatory survey will examine in detail natural and social conditions, the water quality of public water bodies, existing drainage facilities, household connections, sludge management, and the operations and maintenance structure. 日水コン plans to apply its expertise in the water supply and sewerage sectors to contribute to the sustainable development of Hue's sewerage services.
Hue is a cultural city and World Heritage site. While Phase 1 developed drainage infrastructure south of the Huong River, the northern side of the river was outside the project area, leaving issues related to flooding and treatment capacity. Phase 2 is expected to strengthen treatment capacity and flood-control measures in both areas.
