Sakana AI, SCSK and Sumitomo Corporation, 3 companies engaged in generative AI development, announced a comprehensive partnership to deploy AI across society. They aim to promote Japan-developed AI by leveraging a customer network of approximately 100,000 companies.
On 10 September, Sakana AI, a generative AI developer, SCSK, a systems integrator, and Sumitomo Corporation, a general trading company, announced that they had agreed to a comprehensive business partnership aimed at transforming Japan's industries and addressing social issues through the use of AI. The partnership is intended to strengthen their "integration capabilities" to accelerate the adoption of AI in practical operations and business transformation.
Under the division of responsibilities, Sakana AI, which leads model research, will handle technology evaluation and business design. SCSK, the core company of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, will provide implementation capabilities, including system integration, while Sumitomo Corporation will promote implementation by leveraging its approximately 900 consolidated subsidiaries and customer base of 100,000 companies. This will establish a framework for bridging the gap between AI algorithms and business operations.
The companies identified 4 priority areas: advancing real-world projects in mission-critical fields, new applications of AI in cybersecurity, joint development of enterprise AI products that go beyond dependence on specific technologies, and overseas expansion in the social infrastructure sector. They presented a plan to expand overseas a model for AI implementation established in Japan.
