Sakana AI, which develops artificial intelligence (AI), SCSK and Sumitomo Corporation have formally announced a comprehensive business partnership aimed at transforming Japanese industries and addressing social issues through the use of AI. Sakana AI will leverage its research and development capabilities in AI models and solutions, handling everything from business design through technology assessment, evaluation and operational implementation. SCSK will be responsible for ensuring quality, including data preparation, integration with existing systems, information security and governance, while Sumitomo Corporation will leverage approximately 900 consolidated subsidiaries and a customer base of 100,000 companies.
The initial initiatives will begin in 4 areas. Priority will be given to supporting the use of AI in finance, manufacturing and other sectors where high reliability and information security are required; considering a new service supporting the cybersecurity process from vulnerability assessment through remediation; developing AI products and services for enterprises; and collaborating on the introduction of AI in social infrastructure.
The partnership places emphasis on avoiding dependence on any particular AI technology or model and on continuously evaluating and reviewing AI use in response to changes in objectives and operating environments, while maintaining control over critical data and operations. The companies aim to connect AI not only to greater operational efficiency but also to the transformation of businesses and services.
