メデック, based in Hakodate, Hokkaido, will invest ¥1 billion to expand its factory and strengthen production capacity for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, including automated machinery. Construction of the new factory is scheduled to begin in October, with completion targeted for May 2027.
メデック will acquire part of its headquarters site in Hakodate, Hokkaido, for a new factory and purchase an adjoining building, which it will renovate into a company-owned factory. The new construction and renovation will expand manufacturing space from approximately 2,800 square meters to approximately 4,600 square meters.
The investment will total ¥1 billion and establish production capacity for automated machinery and labor-saving equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The company expects the factory expansion and equipment installation to support an increase in orders.
This highlights メデック’s position as one of the few semiconductor manufacturing equipment makers in Hokkaido. Looking ahead to mass production of next-generation semiconductors, the company has indicated that it plans to work with Rapidus and others.
The new factory will be equipped with machining centers, NC lathes, 3D measuring instruments, automated parts-washing machines and automated guided transport robots to strengthen production capacity. Completion is targeted for May 2027, with construction scheduled to begin in October.
