Nippon Soda has adopted Resilire, a cloud platform for supply chain risk management, to strengthen visibility into and risk management across its entire supply chain. The company aims in particular to address its reliance on overseas procurement and geopolitical risks, while improving the efficiency of ESG-related survey management.
Nippon Soda recognizes visibility across its entire supply chain as a key priority because it handles a wide range of raw materials and items involving complex business relationships. The company has a particularly high reliance on overseas sources for agrochemical raw materials and needed a framework for understanding the impact of geopolitical risks. In addition, to address tighter regulations on human rights due diligence overseas, it required a mechanism to streamline the batch distribution and collection of surveys and the management of their status.
Using Resilire, the company can centrally manage information on suppliers, sites and items and visualize it in a tree structure. This will enable it to understand where risks exist across the entire supply chain during normal operations and quickly identify the impact of disasters and geopolitical risks on its own supply chain. Comparing risk information with the company’s own data will also reduce the effort required to identify the potential for impacts to spread.
Koji Chiba (千葉浩司), Section Manager in the Purchasing Department, describes ensuring transparency, strengthening risk management and addressing ESG requirements as important management priorities against a backdrop of natural disasters and rising geopolitical risks. He explains that Resilire’s development approach, which allows functions to be added flexibly, was the deciding factor behind its adoption.
Resilire is a platform that collects, updates and visualizes upstream information, including information on tier-one suppliers, to enable sophisticated risk management. It supports joint visualization with suppliers, real-time detection of disasters, accidents and geopolitical risks, assessment of the scope of their impact, and initial response.
Resilire is expected to contribute to strengthening supply systems across a broad range of manufacturing industries, including pharmaceuticals, chemicals and automobiles. It is also expected to support the company’s compliance with its CSR Procurement Standards and human rights due diligence requirements.
