USD/JPY is expected to move temporarily toward ¥155 in the morning, driven by accelerating US inflation, higher oil prices and rising interest rates. Created at 07:50 on 11 September 2026.
Created at 07:50 on 11 September 2026, Nakamura Tsutomu (中村 勉), a currency analyst at 外為どっとコム総合研究所, gave an expected USD/JPY range of ¥153.600 to ¥155.300. The previous day's closing price was up approximately 0.6%, with dollar buying taking the lead as gains in NY crude oil futures expanded. The stronger-than-expected US August Producer Price Index (PPI) was also seen as a market factor.
The 10-year US Treasury yield rose to 4.96%, its highest level in approximately 3 years, while market pricing for a rate hike at next week's US FOMC is said to have risen above 70%. Against this backdrop, USD/JPY is expected to move toward ¥155 today. Although a result-dependent decline in rate-hike expectations remains a risk, the downside is expected to be limited on the view that a sharp rise in oil prices will feed through to energy costs.
