ZIPAIR Tokyo has installed BlueWX AI turbulence forecasts in MTI's 3DARVI aviation weather system and began operational use on 8 October. Turbulence forecasts by altitude and forecast time can be checked on a single screen and used in flight operations decisions.
ZIPAIR Tokyo has installed the AI turbulence forecasts provided by BlueWX in MTI's 3DARVI aviation weather service and begun operational use. Forecasts are displayed by altitude and forecast time and can be combined with conventional weather information to support decisions on flight routes.
BlueWX's AI turbulence forecasts use deep learning to analyse numerical forecasts, observation data and turbulence data from aircraft, predicting the risk of occurrence. Development has involved approximately 4 years of trial operation, with the aim of improving forecast accuracy and reliability.
3DARVI allows weather information affecting aircraft operations and flight plans to be checked on a single screen. It uses 3D visualisation of weather phenomena to enable hazardous phenomena along routes to be identified quickly.
With this introduction, information used for ZIPAIR's flight operations decisions, including flight planning and altitude setting, has been centralised, with the stated aim of optimising flight operations through the use of turbulence forecasts.
