Nikon is rebounding after 3 sessions. After trading ended the previous Friday, the company raised its consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending March 2027, increasing operating income from a forecast profit of ¥11 billion to ¥16.5 billion and net income from a profit of ¥10 billion to ¥16 billion.
It lowered its previous forecast for second-half revenue from the Imaging Products business from ¥722 billion to ¥720 billion due to a Papcon adjustment, but service revenue in the Precision Equipment business is expected to exceed plan amid an improving semiconductor market, lifting overall profit levels.
Profit plans for the Healthcare and Industry businesses were also reviewed, and trading advanced as investors assessed the improvement in profitability across the divisions. Although the sales plan for imaging equipment was revised, the steady performance of the Precision Equipment business is believed to have attracted investor buying.
Against the backdrop of the unchanged second-half sales plan, people familiar with the matter indicated that the relative strength of the Precision Equipment business supported the return to profitability this fiscal year.
