Intel announced the acquisition of Israeli quantum software company Classiq for $2.2 billion. Once the closing conditions are met, Intel will strengthen its offering of full-stack solutions in the quantum field. The two companies are expected to continue operating as independent businesses after the acquisition closes.
Classiq is developing an operating system that automatically converts high-level functional models into quantum circuits, enabling designs that are independent of the underlying qubit architecture and hardware. This allows developers to design, build, test and run software regardless of the type of quantum computer for which it was designed.
Classiq raised $33 million in a Series B funding round in February 2022, with investors including HPE and Samsung. The acquisition will proceed subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approval, and is expected to close in the first half of 2027.
