Intel announced that it will acquire Israeli quantum software developer Classiq. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2027, subject to regulatory approval.
Classiq provides software that automatically designs quantum algorithms, enabling developers and companies to build quantum applications without manually creating individual circuits. The company has approximately 130 employees and is reportedly serving customers including BMW and AT&T.
Intel plans to combine Classiq’s software with its own spin-qubit chips and manufacturing capabilities, adding quantum processors to CPUs, GPUs and custom chips. Following the acquisition, the software is expected to remain independent of specific qubit types and hardware.
The transaction price has not been disclosed, but Bloomberg reportedly estimates it at approximately $2.3 billion. The transaction is expected to close following regulatory review, with the two companies expected to operate separately until closing.
