Takata Hajime (高田創) and Tamura Naoki (田村直樹), considered hawkish among the BOJ's Policy Board members, have successively called for a faster pace of rate hikes. Calls for a faster pace of rate hikes have continued to emerge among the BOJ's monetary policy decision-makers. The calls have come from Takata Hajime (高田創) and Tamura Naoki (田村直樹), and as the end of their terms approaches, the outlook points to an acceleration of monetary policy normalization.
Speaking in Sapporo on the 2nd, Takata Hajime (高田創) emphasized that monetary policy had entered a “new phase of raising rates flexibly without being bound to a set pace.” This suggested a possible review of the gradual approach to policy management.
In February, Takata Hajime (高田創) indicated that the BOJ would “shift gears in stages,” reaffirming an emphasis on continuity and flexibility in rate hikes.
