Kureha raised its forecast for consolidated net profit for the first half by 66.7%, from the previous forecast of ¥5 billion, and left its full-year profit outlook unchanged. First-quarter profit margins have improved significantly year on year.
KUREHA CORPORATION, a Japanese chemical maker specializing in electrolytic resins, announced its earnings after the close of trading on 7 August 2026. It raised its forecast for consolidated net profit for the first half, including the April–June quarter, by 66.7% from the previous forecast of ¥5 billion. First-quarter net profit was ¥4.28 billion, 2.1 times the year-earlier level, based on the April–June results, while the operating margin on revenue improved from 6.4% to 13.8%.
The company left its full-year consolidated earnings forecast unchanged at the previous forecast of a ¥7.5 billion profit. It explained that there had been an internal review reflecting the impact of raw materials and price revisions, with no changes to the forecasts for the first-half period or full year of the fiscal year ending March 2027 following the first-half revision.
The company cited as reasons for the revision the expectation that revenue will exceed the previous forecast due to changes in the timing of pesticide shipments and other factors, and that operating profit will exceed the previous forecast due to higher pesticide revenue and increased equity-method investment income. As a result, interim profit before tax and interim profit attributable to owners of the parent are also expected to exceed the previous forecasts.
Although the earnings forecast for the April–September first half has been revised, the company currently intends to maintain its previous full-year forecast. Developments in factors that could affect future earnings, including a review of the business portfolio and expenses related to fixed assets, will be subject to future disclosures.
