Denka's ordinary profit for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 rose 5.7-fold year on year to ¥9.47 billion, prompting the company to raise its first-half ordinary profit forecast by 57.1%, from the previous forecast of ¥7 billion to ¥11 billion. The full-year forecast was left unchanged.
Denka disclosed its earnings results on the morning of 7 August, reporting that consolidated ordinary profit for the first quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 (April-June) rose 5.7-fold year on year to ¥9.47 billion.
The company raised its first-half ordinary profit forecast from the previous ¥7 billion to ¥11 billion. Based on ordinary profit of ¥6.79 billion in the same period of the previous year, the forecast implies an expanded year-on-year increase of 62.0%.
In the latest three-month period, the operating margin on sales for April-June improved sharply from 2.4% in the same period of the previous year to 11.3%. This appears to have substantially improved profitability in the first half.
For the current fiscal year, the full-year earnings forecast leaves unchanged the previously projected sales of around ¥210 billion and the revised figures. Following the first-half revision for the current fiscal year, the overall progress will require attention.
