MISUMI Group Inc. has begun offering a feature on its AI platform meviy that enables users to obtain quotes and place orders for parts with shapes that result in uncut areas without changing the design. Users can check whether uncut areas are present in a 3D viewer, and the quoting logic has been revised.
Previously, parts that could result in uncut areas required users to request a quote from a representative, change the design or re-upload the 3D data. The newly added feature enables users to check for uncut areas in the 3D viewer and obtain quotes and place orders without changing the design of the original 3D data.
The feature applies to prismatic parts made by machining and supports iron, SUS, aluminum and some resin materials. The maximum size is 600 mm × 400 mm × 70 mm, and parts ship as early as the third day. The aim is to reduce the time and effort required for parts procurement by reducing additional work such as design changes and repeat quotes.
This is expected to improve the efficiency of the parts procurement process while bringing work that previously depended on manual intervention within the scope of automation. The scope of application may potentially be expanded to other materials and shapes as the feature is used.
