In the morning session on 11 September, Bandai Namco Holdings, Takara Tomy and Bushiroad were bought among game and entertainment-related stocks, while Yuke's pared losses after a sharp decline.
The Tokyo stock market was generally weak in the morning session, but game and entertainment-related stocks showed movements seen as being driven by stock-specific catalysts. Individually, Bandai Namco Holdings, Takara Tomy and Bushiroad were bought, while Yuke's fell sharply but showed signs of paring its losses. The major indexes generally remained in negative territory.
In terms of individual stocks, SMBC Nikko Securities was reportedly set to maintain its rating of "1" on Bandai Namco Holdings and raise its target price to ¥6,200, which was viewed as a buying catalyst. Bushiroad was also cited as a buying catalyst, while Takara Tomy was likewise reported to have received a target price increase. Related stocks rose in tandem with these developments.
Yuke's, meanwhile, announced a sharp 224.6% year-on-year increase in operating profit to ¥165 million in its July interim results, but fell as expectations that the positive news had already been fully reflected took hold. After selling pressure subsided, buying aimed at an autonomous rebound was also observed, and the stock showed signs of paring its losses.
There was also movement among hobby and leisure-related stocks, with Takara Tomy and Bushiroad becoming points of focus for the broader market. Against a backdrop of stock-specific catalysts that changed from day to day, movements in game-related stocks during the morning session continued to attract attention.
