サンエー announced its second-quarter results for the fiscal year ending February 2027. Strong sales of seasonal products and food at its stores, along with tourism demand, drove higher operating revenue and profit across the board year on year.
According to サンエー's second-quarter results for the fiscal year ending February 2027, operating revenue was ¥129.929 billion, operating profit was ¥9.849 billion, ordinary profit was ¥10.219 billion, and profit attributable to owners of the parent was ¥6.414 billion, all above the year-earlier levels. Retail sales rose 6.4% to ¥124.986 billion, while segment profit increased 14.4% to ¥8.6 billion.
The company said same-store sales remained strong despite temporary closures caused by the approach of a typhoon. Strong sales of seasonal products amid high temperatures, increased food demand resulting from a shift in the timing of the Obon holiday period, and growth in tourist souvenir and duty-free sales amid robust tourism demand all contributed. In its food division, the company strengthened sales of products including Kurashi More, Lawson Original and Seijo Ishii, as well as tasting promotions, and launched the private-label brand Joto Kitchen in September 2026. Overall, store renovations and the introduction of new formats also progressed, while the convenience store business saw new store openings and the closure of some stores.
For the full year, the company expects operating revenue of ¥257.270 billion (up 4.8%), operating profit of ¥17.527 billion (up 2.7%), ordinary profit of ¥17.975 billion (up 1.2%), and profit attributable to owners of the parent of ¥11.025 billion (up 3.3%).
