Resona Holdings and JCB signed a capital and business alliance agreement on 15 October 2026 to deepen their existing cooperation and pursue more efficient corporate payments and more sophisticated cash management. Resona plans to acquire 2.24% of JCB's issued shares around mid-November, as announced on the same day, bringing Resona Group's stake to 5.27% after the acquisition. This will strengthen the companies' partnership and enhance the provision of integrated financial and payment services.
The agreement aims to support more efficient payment operations and more sophisticated cash management by expanding services in corporate cards and business-to-business payments. By closely integrating payments and financial services, the companies seek to create new services that promote higher corporate productivity and business growth.
The companies also stated that they will use their respective customer bases and merchant networks to provide more convenient, safe and secure payment experiences in local communities and everyday situations. They will also work to create new user experiences and use these networks as points of contact with financial services.
As examples of their cooperation to date, the companies cited their collaboration on Resona credit cards through the Club Point Plus loyalty program in 2014 and their business alliance in the corporate payments field in 2024. They indicated that this agreement will serve as a new starting point for deepening cooperation in corporate and next-generation payments.
