Under CEO Matsuda Katsuya (松田 克也), Meiji Holdings has unveiled a new business concept centered on the fusion of food and pharmaceuticals, along with its proprietary “Meiji ROESG” metric. It has set out a growth strategy targeting ¥100 billion in revenue and a 30% profit margin.
The Meiji Group is transforming its business portfolio by leveraging both its food and pharmaceutical businesses, and has introduced its proprietary “Meiji ROESG” metric, linking the resolution of social issues with profitability. With both ROE and ESG as evaluation criteria, the Group aims for sustainable growth.
The Group positions natural capital as the foundation of its business and points out that dairy farming and cocoa sourcing may become unstable as a result of global warming. With a view to stable production in the cocoa belt, it is developing new cocoa-derived materials and making use of previously unused resources. Since 2022, it has been running the “Open Up, Cocoa.” project.
The Group is also working to create new value through products such as ballpoint pens made using cocoa husks and cocoa-derived bioplastics. Development is under way on products and materials including the chocolate “Cacao Beauté,” which contains cocoa ceramides, and trays made from cocoa-derived bioplastic material.
Matsuda Katsuya (松田 克也) emphasized the policy of linking the resolution of social issues to business growth through the ROESG approach. He indicated an intention to transform the Group’s brands around health value and create corporate value over the long term.
