He expects the market to remain range-bound ahead of the U.S. midterm elections, but believes a risk-on stance will return after the interim results.
Kudaka Kazuya (久高一也), who presented his outlook for the Nikkei 225, said the market currently lacks a clear direction and that he expects the index to settle at around ¥71,000 at the end of 2026.
The Nikkei 225 is expected to remain range-bound until the U.S. midterm elections in November. Thereafter, investor risk appetite is likely to increase following the interim results of Japanese and U.S. technology companies.
The view presented was that a risk-on stance could return after the political event, allowing the Nikkei 225 to strengthen its upward trend toward year-end.
