COVER raised its consolidated earnings forecast for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027 after hololive’s first official mobile game, “hololive Dreams,” got off to a stronger-than-expected start. Meanwhile, the company’s share price plunged after the disclosure, putting the sustainability of its full-year forecast and the game’s long-term hit potential in focus.
COVER raised its consolidated earnings forecast for the second quarter of the fiscal year ending March 2027, lifting its operating profit forecast from the previous ¥1.93 billion to ¥3.5 billion and its net income forecast from ¥1.35 billion to ¥2.3 billion. The revisions were substantial, with the increases reaching the 70% to 80% range. The company cited the stronger-than-expected launch momentum of “hololive Dreams,” a jointly operated smartphone game, as well as licensing and tie-up businesses exceeding plan.
“hololive Dreams” is hololive’s first official mobile game. It launched simultaneously worldwide on 23 July 2026, with pre-registrations exceeding 1.5 million. It ranked first in download rankings in multiple countries around its release and also performed strongly after launch, reaching No. 1 in sales rankings. Estimates by a market research firm put the game’s revenue during its first 9 days at more than approximately $18 million (about ¥2.8 billion), while it also showed high revenue generation for a new release over the full month of July.
The disclosure concerned an upward revision to the first-half forecast, while the full-year forecast was left unchanged. It is currently difficult to reasonably calculate how the first-half outperformance will affect results in the second half, and the company is scrutinising the sustainability of the performance. Following the disclosure, the company’s share price plunged on the 25th to ¥1,480, down ¥135 from the previous day and representing a decline of more than 8%.
