Morpho announced joint development with Astemo of camera-sensing technology for software-defined vehicles (SDVs), indicating that it aims to license the technology for mass production. Stock price movements over the past 2 trading days have drawn attention as the backdrop to the limit-up sessions.
Morpho, which is pursuing a business shift from smartphone image processing to automotive AI, announced on 2 September 2026 that it would jointly develop camera-sensing technology for SDVs with Astemo, a major automotive parts manufacturer.
The joint development will focus on combining AI algorithms with lightweight implementation to incorporate technology for assessing driving environments and occupant conditions into automotive software. The companies also highlighted implementation capabilities, including the SoftNeuro inference engine and camera calibration technology.
However, the announcement did not mention specific terms such as the automakers that would adopt the technology, target vehicle models, the start of mass production, contract value, shipment-volume-linked royalties or exclusivity rights. The company also reported that its latest results were in the red, leaving uncertainties over whether the technology can be licensed for mass production.
