A new-format location, Atelier UKAI Cafe & Factory HACHIOJI, will open at Aeon Takiyama in Hachioji on 7 September 2026. It will be developed as a multi-purpose complex integrating a patisserie, café, workshop and experiential facilities, against the backdrop of a long-term branding strategy and efforts to improve the working environment for employees.
The new site brings together a café, workshop, shop, experiential space and back office in a vast space of approximately 1,000 tsubo. Centred on a 700-tsubo workshop, it has been designed to let visitors experience the brand's world through features including a circular entrance and cookie-tin-inspired displays.
The café will offer window seats overlooking Hachioji's natural surroundings, freshly made cookies and pastries produced in the workshop, soft-serve ice cream made with Hokkaido milk, and original drinks. The layout incorporates signature products such as the signature petit-four stand as part of the visitor experience.
The experiential facilities will feature exhibits and demonstrations that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. They will include hand-cranked displays, cookie-cutting activities and scent-based presentations, along with many features that can be enjoyed whether or not visitors make a purchase. Mechanisation is also being advanced to reduce the burden on employees, and plans call for a new fruit-processing room and the development of products using seasonal ingredients.
Future developments include a Yokohama store on 17 September, the first concept shop in western Japan on 23 October, and another large-scale location in December. While Hachioji is the brand's point of origin, dating back to its founding period, it is expected to serve as a new base supporting the brand's long-term expansion.
