The Japan Exchange Group announced the new TOPIX constituents. There will be 35 new additions and 683 constituents subject to transition measures, with application beginning at the end of October.
The Japan Exchange Group announced the new constituents of the Tokyo Stock Price Index, TOPIX. The number of constituents meeting the criteria will fall by approximately 40%, from the current 1,634 companies to 986, and the group indicated that it will select constituents with an emphasis on growth potential, market capitalisation and trading value.
New additions include 日本マクドナルドホールディングス, ヱスビー食品, ワークマン, タイミー, GO and ティアフォー, classified by the Standard and Growth markets. Constituents subject to transition measures include タマホーム, 不二家, GMOインターネット, WOWOW, ワタミ, 沖縄電力, 松屋フーズホールディングス and オリオンビール. Their weighting in the index will be gradually reduced through July 2028.
Under the post-transition operating policy, constituents that meet the criteria as of October 2027 will be subject to a condition maintaining their index weighting at 50%. Ultimately, the plan is to reduce the weighting of constituents subject to transition measures to zero. The reallocation between new additions and constituents subject to transition measures is expected to reflect trends in market capitalisation and trading value, with application scheduled to begin at the end of October.
