The generative AI-powered AI Summary feature has been introduced to the cloud electronic medical record “CLIPLA,” automatically summarizing and displaying key points from past medical records. The feature is scheduled to launch in November 2026 and will initially be provided free of charge. A demonstration will also be held at the 80th Japanese Clinical Ophthalmology Congress.
The company announced that it plans to launch an AI Summary feature for the cloud electronic medical record “CLIPLA” series in November 2026. The feature uses generative AI to summarize and organize the contents of past medical records for display. It will initially be provided free of charge to medical institutions that wish to use it. A demonstration is also scheduled at the corporate exhibition of the 80th Japanese Clinical Ophthalmology Congress.
The AI Summary feature extracts key points from entries in past medical records, including the chief complaint, findings, procedures and prescriptions, and displays them as a summary on the medical record screen. Physicians can review, edit and use the displayed summaries. Intended use cases include reviewing a patient’s progress during follow-up visits and preparing handover materials.
The feature is intended to reduce the time spent “reading” past medical records, rather than the time spent “writing” them. It can be used without leaving the medical record screen, and does not require transcription to or switching to another system. Safety measures include opt-in provision, non-use of information for AI training, and domestic data processing, encryption and access controls.
The company will continue improving the feature based on feedback from medical institutions, aiming to reduce the workload of healthcare professionals and provide better medical care to patients by using technologies including generative AI. The demonstration exhibition at the 80th Japanese Clinical Ophthalmology Congress will run from 29 to 31 October 2026 at the Kyoto International Conference Center.
