The Shochiku Otani Library will display a reproduction of the assembled lantern picture “先代萩 御殿・床下” at the theatre during the April Grand Kabuki performance period. Reference materials from “From This Month's Plays” will also be presented, and details can be viewed in the digital archive.
The Shochiku Otani Library, a specialist library for theatre and film, will display the completed assembled lantern picture “先代萩 御殿・床下” (reproduction) inside Kabukiza Theatre from 2 April to 27 April 2026. The display is tied to “裏表先代萩,” the daytime performance in the April Grand Kabuki program during the exhibition period.
The library holds 161 assembled lantern pictures, whose details are also available through its official digital archive. The item on display is an assembled lantern picture that incorporates the palace and the area beneath the floor into a single composition, and can be viewed in a display case at the venue.
Original goods from the Shochiku Otani Library will also be sold at the Kobikicho souvenir shop on the first floor of Kabukiza Theatre. In the reading room, visitors can freely handle and view materials through the reference display “From This Month's Plays.” Materials can normally be viewed from the book cart in the reading room. Admission is free.
Venue information, including the exhibition dates, location, contact details and official website, is provided, with visitors encouraged to stop by when attending a performance.
