A special exhibition based on materials held by the Shochiku Otani Library will be held at Kabukiza Theatre. A related exhibition will take place alongside the evening program of “July Grand Kabuki,” while a special exhibition commemorating the performance of “Princess Mononoke” at Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre will also be held during the same period.
A special exhibition introducing materials held by the Shochiku Otani Library is being held in the first-floor lobby of Kabukiza Theatre. During “July Grand Kabuki,” the completed form of the assembled paper lantern picture “The Fight at Megumi” is on display. The library is also introducing materials related to the July performances.
Alongside an explanation of the assembled paper lantern picture, the exhibition introduces assembled models of nishiki-e, multicolored woodblock prints that were popular from the Edo period through the Showa period. The presentation is designed to evoke a recreation of the quarrel scene. Related materials, including scripts and explanatory booklets, are also on display.
From 1 July to 14 August, a special exhibition commemorating the performance of Super Kabuki “Princess Mononoke” will be held in the reading room of the Shochiku Otani Library. Materials related to Studio Ghibli works, as well as scripts and pamphlets, will be introduced. Admission is free, and the library is open on weekdays from 10:00 to 17:00.
