Apple announced HomeView, a home hub with a display, in 2 versions: tabletop and wall-mounted. Priced at $299, it is scheduled to launch on 13 November, primarily in the US. Its 7-inch display is larger than the roughly 6-inch screen expected before the announcement, and the product is designed to serve as the center of the company's smart-home ecosystem.
Its main feature is the ability to identify family members by face. Depending on where a person is standing, that person's schedule, reminders and photos appear on the display. Personal information is shown only when the person's iPhone is nearby. Camera and microphone data are handled separately from other processing, and the device is also said to support FaceTime calls.
In the kitchen, users can display recipes in Safari and operate multiple timers by voice, while up to 9 camera feeds can be displayed simultaneously. As a home control panel, it supports smart lighting, air conditioning and smart locks. It also supports music playback and spatial audio, and the tabletop model has a woofer.
The device is powered by an A18 chip and designed to run Siri AI. The display can reduce its brightness in dark rooms and has a built-in temperature and humidity sensor. It connects to a power outlet, and iPhones and iPads must run iOS 27.2 or later. It does not include the App Store, and no development kit for third parties has been announced, which may limit its future expandability. The timing of a Japanese launch has not been determined.
