At his inauguration press conference, new President Kurohata Yasuyuki (黒畑靖之) indicated that the company would prioritise capturing demand in Asia and narrowing its range of building-material products. Key areas going forward will include expansion in ASEAN, European restructuring, the integration and reorganisation of manufacturing plants, and the strengthening of the renovation business.
SANKYO TATEYAMA, INC. held a press conference for President Kurohata Yasuyuki (黒畑靖之), who took office on 27 August, and outlined its business policy for the new medium-term management plan beginning with the fiscal year ending May 2028, amid a challenging operating environment that includes three consecutive periods of net losses. The company said it would focus on capturing demand in Asia while narrowing the product range of its core building-materials business.
The company announced plans to strengthen its expansion into ASEAN countries. Its subsidiary タテヤマアドバンス, which manufactures fixtures for commercial facilities, will establish a new base in Vietnam and expand sales primarily to Japanese companies. Local retailers are also expanding into Vietnam, and President Kurohata Yasuyuki (黒畑靖之) said that ASEAN is an area with strong growth potential.
In Europe, the company plans to pursue structural reforms to its earnings by recording extraordinary gains from real estate sales and reducing its workforce. It expects the resulting cost savings to amount to approximately ¥2.3 billion in the fiscal year ending May 2027, respectively. In the building-materials business, the company plans to consolidate production into the STINA series of highly insulating aluminium-resin composite windows and announced plans to change its manufacturing plants from 7 to 5 through consolidation.
The company said it would prioritise expansion on both fronts, in Asia and Europe, and referred to plans to establish an aluminium extrusion plant in Thailand, targeting operation during fiscal 2028, as well as its work on materials for AI and data centre-related applications. Over the medium to long term, it emphasised its policy of using its strengths in aluminium extrusion and casting to shift toward higher value-added businesses.
